About Calli's Work

Calli VanderWilde earned her PhD from the University of Michigan School for Environment and Sustainability (SEAS) while working in the Urban Sustainability Research Group. She holds a BSc (Environmental Science) and BA (Spanish) from the University of Portland and a MSc (SEAS - Sustainable Systems) from the University of Michigan. Her dissertation research examined how supply chain embeddedness and sustainability certification influence environmental pressures in palm oil producing regions of Guatemala. She employed a mixed-methods approach that melds respective strengths of industrial ecology, economic geography, supply chain management, network science, and land change science thought traditions.

Calli is now manages deforestation and nature research at the non-profit Ceres.
