About Belen's Work
I am Dr. in Veterinary Sciences, working in Corrientes province, Argentina. My research focuses on the dynamics of infectious diseases in wild and domestic canids in protected and interface areas. Based on the One Health approach, I use dogs and sympatric foxes as sentinels of pathogens to which endangered species and people may be exposed. I also collaborate on primate and otter research projects carried out at the Corrientes Biological Field Station, National Scientific and Technical Research Council (EBCo-CONICET). My main interests lie in the ecology and epidemiology of wild and domestic animals’ pathogens and their interactions. Furthermore, I have developed an interest in local community outreach to promote initiatives for the coexistence of wildlife and humans. Since 2011, I have carried out and participated in educational and conservation projects.
