About Ayansina's Work
Ayansina Ayanlade is an Environmental Scientist who specializes in land-atmosphere processes, man-climate interaction, climate change, extreme climate events in sub-saharan Africa, and responses to climatic and environmental changes. He has academic experiences in Nigeria, USA, Norway, the United Kingdom and Austria. He completed his Ph.D. at The King’s College London, University of London, UK. Over the years, he became known for his interdisciplinary approach, integrating climate science and social justice in his research and teaching, fighting against climate change, and emphasizing the importance of collective action and sustainable solutions for a more equitable and resilient future. His profound commitment to understanding and mitigating the impacts of climate change has made him a prominent figure in the academic and environmental communities.
Ayansina was a Scholar of Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF); The Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA); Post-Doctoral research Fellow of Climate Impact Research Capacity and Leadership Enhancement in Sub-Saharan Africa (CIRCLE, Cohort 2), which is an initiative of the Department for International Development (DFID) of the United Kingdom (UK); and a Visiting Research Fellow under the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security/Sovereignty (CCAFS) at International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), Kenya. His International research training experiences include International Research Institute for Climate and Society at The Earth Institute, Columbia University, Lamont Campus, USA; Research methods, impacts and adaptation policies, a course on research methods in climate change and health, University of Bergen, Norway; and Academic research leadership training, King’s college London, University of London. He is representing Nigeria in UN-Intergovernmental Panel on climate Change (IPCC) (as a lead author of Chapter 9: Africa of the Working Group II of the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report).
