About Ayanna's Work
I'm dedicated to leveraging geospatial data analytics to understand and preserve our natural world. In research, I explore the intricate connections among disturbances, biodiversity, ecosystem structure, and function (specifically carbon sequestration) within forested ecosystems. My work offers valuable insights for sustainable forest management, conservation practices, and understanding future climate dynamics.
Grounded by my background as a Caribbean woman in Science, I actively promote diversity, inclusion, service, and innovation in science. I am committed to nurturing talent and have mentored numerous students from the Caribbean and the United States. I've shared insights as a panelist in graduate workshops, offering guidance and support to aspiring researchers. As a result of these efforts, I have received numerous awards for leadership, research, mentorship, and service.
