About Anne Elise's Work
Anne Elise Stratton is an interdisciplinary food systems scholar and Assistant Professor of Agroecology at UMass Amherst. She conducts participatory research to build knowledge for sustainability transitions from farms to food systems. She strongly values collaborative work with communities and has partnered with nonprofits and universities across the Americas, Europe, and South Asia. Anne Elise completed her PhD research on agroecological transitions at the School for Environment and Sustainability at the University of Michigan, partnering with the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) and the nonprofit Center for the Study and Promotion of Group Agriculture (Cepagro) in Brazil. She completed two postdoctoral projects: 1) mapping the contributions of legume-based transitions to sustainable diets in Europe (VU Amsterdam) and 2) using collective visioning to identify ‘bright spots’ of desirable food systems in India and Mexico (University of Hohenheim). Anne Elise is currently a co-PI on a transdisciplinary project researching Agroecological Transitions for Climate Adaptation and Mitigation on four continents (https://www.agroecology4climate.net/).
