About Andres's Work

A doctoral student in environmental sciences at the Institut de Sciences de l'Environnement at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), Andres Larrea holds a bachelor's degree in anthropology and a master's degree in environmental sciences. He is interested in the fields of territorial governance and political ecology, specializing in the relation between climate change and socio-ecological conflicts, having worked in the conservation of coastal territories in the Magdalen Islands and Quintana Roo. Andres currently coordinates Resistaction, a project researching and mapping conflicts associated to extractive industries in Quebec and Chile. For his doctoral research, Andres develops participatory scenarios of the future of the Huasco river bassin, in the Atacama desert.
