About Andrea's Work

I am a geoscientist and Full Professor at the University of Milano (Italy), interested in investigating the human–environment relationship since Prehistory, with the aim of understanding how human activities and the introduction of new types of land use have modified ecosystems and surface processes on the planet, and whether these modifications are sustainable for the Earth system. I have over 25 years of experience in field research activities across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. I have directed research missions in Italy, Libya, Sudan, the Sultanate of Oman, and the United Arab Emirates. Author of more than 250 publications, I founded and currently serve as Editor-in-Chief of the journal Quaternary Environments and Humans.
