About Ana's Work
Ana is a land system science researcher whose work explores the intricate interplay between competing land demands and their implications for human well-being, biodiversity conservation, and climate change mitigation. Her current research focuses on characterizing the diverse land systems emerging from renewable energy deployment in Portugal. By examining how these systems interact with specific socio-ecological contexts, she seeks to understand the pathways toward a more just and equitable energy governance. Previously, Ana's research focused on land-use frontiers, where she mapped deforestation processes and analyzed their impacts on biodiversity and local communities. She holds a PhD in Geography from the Humboldt University of Berlin, an MSc in Ecology from the University of Porto, and a BSc in Biology from the University of Lisbon.
