About Aliyu's Work
Professor Aliyu Salisu Barau is a leading transdisciplinarian researcher in urban sustainability and built environment sciences and academic leader - served as a Head of Department of Urban and Regional Planning and subsequently Dean of Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Bayero University Kano. Since 2020, he has been Director of the West Africa Hub of the Urban Climate Research Network, he has also served as a Lead Author for various global assessment principally, the IPCC, IPBES and Global Environment Outlook. Aliyu has supervised PhDs in Nigeria, Malaysia, and UK. He has co-authors from all over continents and global regions. His top articles are published in Nature, Nature Climate Change, Nature Cities, Nature Ecology and Evolution. Aliyu is Principal Editor for Cities and Climate Change series by the Cambridge University Press. He has also co-held research grants from the Royal Society, European Space Agency, UKRI, among others.
