Dr. Weidong Kong is a Professor in the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and also serves as adjunct Professor in the University of Pretoria, South Africa. Dr. Kong was awarded his Ph.D from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and received his postdoctoral training in Purdue University, Miami University and University of California in San Francisco before joining the ITP. Dr. Kong is interested in microbial diversity and their roles in carbon and nitrogen cycling in dryland and polar regions, including the Antarctic, Arctic and Tibetan Plateau, and their responses to human activities and climate change.
