Oliver Coomes is Professor of Geography who works on issues related to environment and development in tropical rainforest forests and forest communities of Latin America, including peasant livelihoods, poverty traps, land cover change, adaptation to environmental change, and agrobiodiversity. He served as Editor-in-Chief of World Development (2003-2012) and Associate Editor of Economic Botany (2009-2016). He was a member of the LUCC Scientific Steering Committee (2003-05) and GLP Scientific Transition Team (2005); a co-author of the initial Global Land Project Science Plan; and a former Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Land Use Science.
