Dr. Dereje Teklemariam, born and raised in Shewa (Ethiopia), is an Associate Professor of Management and Development Studies. Dr. Dereje’s research combines Business, Economic Development, Environment and Management Studies. Experienced with applications and tools of mixed research methods, socio-economic and environmental assessment models to investigate the dynamics of interactions among business, investment, livelihood, environment and their ramifications on the socio-economic parameters and sustainability. Among current projects, he is a lead investigator of research projects such as (1) Organizational Productivity, (2) Strategic Issue Management (SIM), (3) Ecopreneurship, (4) Valorization of ecosystem services from highland exclosures, (5) Women and Gender Studies, (6) Water supply, Development Project Impact Assessment, and (7) Land/Nature Restoration and Livelihood Projects. More projects include large-scale land acquisition and socio-environmental repercussions, Inclusive land deal governance, and enhancing agribusiness value chains, and Agro-industrial investment potential assessment. He is highly involved in multidisciplinary areas of research such as land use land cover change (LULCC), flood risk assessment, effects and resilience models. In a number of universities, Dr. Dereje lectured postgraduate courses such as Project Management, International Business, Natural Resources, Land Management, Local and Regional Economic Development,Organizational Behaviour, Strategic Management, and Research Methodology. Concerning academic achievements, Dr. Dereje obtained his PhD from Gent University (Belgium) in Transnational Investment Management (TIM) and his doctoral dissertation was on Large-Scale transnational Land Acquisition and Effects Environment and Livelihood in Western Ethiopia. He also holds MSc from Bangor University (UK), MSc from University of Copenhagen (Denmark), MA in Development Studies (Major in Environment and Development) from Addis Ababa University (Ethiopia), BA in Management from Mekelle University (Ethiopia).
