Dr. Pradeep Kumar Dubey works at World Resource Institute India as Program Manager within Sustainable Landscape and Restoration program. His primary area of expertise lies in agroecosystem management, and his work predominantly focuses on landscape restoration initiatives in India, characterized by a bottom-up approach. Prior joining WRI India he worked as Technical Manager for an Agri-start-up company Grow Indigo (a joint venture of Mahyco Grow in India and Indigo Ag in USA) on carbon credit generation from agriculture sector in India. Pradeep is a United Nations IPBES fellow, participating in ongoing global nexus assessment that encompass biodiversity, food, water, health, and climate, with a focus on bridging the gap between science and policy. In addition to Global Land Program (GLP), he serves as a member of three IUCN commissions - CEM, CEC, CEESP; Global Soil Biodiversity Initiative (GSBI), and IPBES-ONet facilitation team member. He has been honoured with the Special Recognition Award from IUCN CEM Agroecosystems; Young Scientists Award from Society for science of climate change and environmental sustainability, India; Fellow Award from Society for Plant Research, India; and selected for Young Scientist presentation from APN, Japan for his notable contributions. Pradeep holds MSc-PhD degree in Environmental Science from Asia’s largest residential Banaras Hindu University situated at the bank of river Ganga in Varanasi, India. Over the course of more than a decade following the completion of his master's degree, he has undertaken substantial agricultural surveys at the farm and field level, focusing on various ecological solutions for agri-environmental sustainability, land-soil management within the Vindhyan dryland and Gangetic Plain regions in north India, which has merit in achieving various UN-SDGs. He also did extension activities for marginalised and vulnerable population in association with India’s oldest prestigious science academy i.e., National Academy of Science, India (NASI), Prayagraj, and its local Varanasi Chapter. He has been invited as resource person, speaker, expert judge for school children, trainer for school teachers, rapporteur, and co-chair in various national forum in India. His prolific contributions to the field are evident through his extensive publication record, encompassing research articles, reviews, opinions, editorial pieces, book chapters, and a lead-authored Springer Book on ‘Adaptive Agricultural Practices’. Pradeep served as Guest Editor in esteemed international journals such as Agronomy Journal (American Society of Agronomy), Agriculture (MDPI), Sustainability (MDPI), CRSUST, Environmental Challenges (Elsevier), Land Degradation and Development (Wiley), and on reviewer board of Agronomy (MDPI) and others. He serves as Associate Editor for Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability (Indian Journal), Subject Editor for Vegetos (Springer), and Assistant Editor for Anthropocene Science (Springer). He is interested in exploring the dynamics of human-nature coupled land-based agroecosystem though policy lens. The most recent and fully funded international visit Pradeep cherish includes: United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON); IPBES- 9th plenary in Bonn, Germany, 6th capacity-building forum in Kenya, and 2nd author meeting of nexus assessment in Kruger National Park, South Africa.
