Paulo Massoca is a Ph.D. candidate in Environmental Science at the School of Public and Environmental Affairs, and affiliated student with the Center for the Analysis of Social-Ecological Landscapes (CASEL), both in Indiana University Bloomington. His research focuses on land change science, particularly on coupled human-environment systems in the Brazilian Amazon where he has investigated the interplay between diverse social agents and the dynamics of deforestation and second-growth forests. Paulo's doctoral project analyzes how multi-stakeholder initiatives at the county level mediate anti-deforestation policies in the Amazon.
