I am Ramin Nourqolipour, a PhD graduated in the field of GIS and Geomatic Engineering from the Geospatial Information Science Research Centre (GIS RC) at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).
I have more than 10 years of experience as a land change modeler, GIS and remote sensing analyst, teaching assistant, training demonstrator, researcher, and lecturer. In my PhD, we could successfully develop a multi-objective-based land change model of cellular automata and Markov chain analysis. The dissertation initiates a heuristic method to calibrate Markov-based land change models. Part of my PhD work has been published in the Applied Spatial Analysis and Policy, and Environmental Earth Science journals in three peer reviewed papers. I have also published a book so far. The areas that interest me for my future research includes land use change analysis, spatio-temporal modeling of urban and regional landscape in GIS, Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions modeling, Agent Based Modeling (ABM), linking pattern to process of land use change.
