IPBES seeking expert nominations following 6th meeting

The Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) seeks expert nominations for the:

a) assessment on values (see the scoping document here) and

b) assessment of the sustainable use of wild species (see the scoping document here)

You should apply if...

  • your expertise matches the needs of one of the two assessments (see the respective scoping documents), and

  • you have experience in working within interdisciplinary, international and/or global contexts, and

  • you would be available to attend the first author meeting, and

    • Assessment on values: 10-14 September 2018

    • Assessment of sustainable use of wild species: 24-28 September 2018

  • you either:

    • have expertise in one or more disciplines of:

      • natural science

      • social science

      • the humanities

    • are an indigenous and local knowledge expert

    • have expertise in indigenous and local knowledge systems

    • are a policy expert or practitioner

IPBES is particularly looking for experts with a scientific and/or practical background in:

  • ecological and environmental economics

  • environmental and sustainability sciences

  • environmental ethics and philosophy

  • environmental sociology and anthropology

  • environmental psychology and behavioural science

  • environmental history

  • science and technology studies

  • political ecology

  • human geography

  • human ecology

  • cultural ecology

  • environmental policy and law

  • political sciences and trade

  • from other fields related to integrative approaches to human-nature relations and linking knowledge to policy and practice.

How do you apply?

All applications are processed through the dedicated web portal.  The deadline for applications is 1 June 2018.

You will need to:

  1. Log in using your IPBES website credentials (or create an account, if you do not already have one)

  2. Fill out the application form

  3. Attach your CV.

As part of the application form, you will need to provide the details of the nominating organisation. To be nominated through Future Earth, put the following:

Your nomination will then be forwarded to the nominating organisation, who will have until 11 June 2018 to approve your application.  You will be informed of the outcome of your application in July 2018.
